The cylindrically symmetric models in presence of electromagnetic field play a significant role in understanding some essential feature of cosmological models. The occurrence of magnetic fields on a galactic scale is a well-established fact today, and its importance for a variety of astrophysical phenomena, interstellar spaces exhibit the presence of strong magnetic field and the magnatohydrodynamical processes in stars.

Castor seeds are non-edible oil rich plant product, with many medicinal properties. Carbon micro-flakes being a new type carbon material were synthesized from castor seeds (as precursor) by pyrolysis. During pyrolytic condition, Argon gas was used as carrier gas, and temperature was mentioned at 8000C for an hour. Scanning Electron Microscopic (SEM) images confirmed the morphology of micro sized carbon flakes along with some nano-carbon fragments. RAMAN spectra of carbon-flakes revealed the presence of defects on its surface thus confirming its amorphous nature.

A coupled model, GANN is developed embedding genetic algorithm (GA) and artificial neural network (ANN) for forecasting 1-day-ahead floods in the Kosi River in India for the monsoon season (June to October). The Kosi carries large flows during monsoon, making the entire North Bihar State of India unsafe for habitation or cultivation. When compared, GANN models are found simulating river flows better than autoregression models (ARs) developed for comparison purpose. The best performing GANN model, with four previous days’ flow-rates as inputs, predicts monsoon flows in the Kosi with the highest accuracy of 99.2%, the minimum root mean square errors of 83.1 m3/s and the maximum coefficient of correlation of 0.99.
